Dodge Street Bus Rapid Transit Open House

Metro Transit is hosting an Open House to introduce preliminary conceptual station designs for the Dodge Street Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line. A BRT is a high performance and rapid transit mode combining physical, operating and system elements into a permanently integrated transit system. Think Rail, Use Bus!

The eight mile corridor connecting downtown and the Westroads Mall will have 25 to 27 stations. The individual conceptual designs incorporate common amenities, e.g., ADA accessible level boarding, covered waiting areas, real time arrival displays, pre-boarding payment equipment, and surrounding amenities such as bicycle parking and landscaping. The BRT is scheduled to begin operations fall 2018.

The BRT project was identified as a part of the locally preferred alternative identified by the Central Omaha Transit Alternatives Analysis and the recipient of a highly competitive 2014 USDOT Tiger grant for $15 million.

Metro and its partners, the City of Omaha and the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency, are seeking the public’s review and comments of the preliminary station designs and progress to date on the project. Currently, work is continuing on preliminary engineering and environmental review in conjunction with the Federal Transit Administration.

Please join us for the Open House. Staff will be available to answer questions.
