Dundee Day

Dundee Day began in the 1950’s as a sidewalk sale and became an official day of events in 1992. This year's family-friendly street festival celebrates and highlights the Dundee neighborhood with a parade, art vendors, pancake breakfast, food trucks, live music, and beer garden.

The 5k run returns this year as the "Dundee Dash", as well as the book sale to support the Dundee Library.

Dundee Day features up to 100 street vendors and thousands of guests who pour on to Underwood Avenue to participate in a fun run, great food, and a day full of entertainment for the entire family.

If you would like to participate in the parade, or as a vendor, or as a sponsor, jump over to and fill out an application. You can find out more information on the website, or drop us an email at

Omaha Gives

This year the DMPA will be seeking donations from Omaha Givers to repaint Dundee’s iconic light posts. We received a generous donation of $5000 from Bucky’s on Dodge and our goal is to match that donation during this year’s event. We are so excited to give with you this year!

Want more info about Omaha Gives!? Here’s a great explanation taken from

“Omaha Gives! is a year-round online giving platform organized by the Omaha Community Foundation to grow philanthropy in Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties. Each year, there is a 24-hour online giving event in May to celebrate nonprofits. This year's giving day will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24-hours to give as much as possible to support the work of public 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the metro area. The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum. Prizes, Challenge Funds, and Incentive Funds amplify charitable donations to make each dollar go further. Search profiles of participating nonprofits and track progress during the event on our leaderboard. Last year, the community raised over $7.4million for local nonprofits!”

Spring Clean Up

Annual Spring Clean up/ Dumpster Day is coming up and Brownell Talbot has once again generously allowed us to use their east parking lot as a staging area (off of Chicago St & Happy Hollow). The city garbage trucks will arrive just before 9am and the area strong men (middle aged neighbors) will be there to help you unload your car.

We will take almost everything but please check for more details if you have concerns.

We will again be collecting donations for the Street Lamp restoration project at the entrance so it would be great if you would throw a few dollars their way. Last year we collected more than $700 after a very busy day. Please remember that this is NOT geared toward the Landlord/Handyman that wants to drop off construction materials from a complete remodel or entire roof. We get the cars through very quickly and extremely large loads will be turned away... with a smile. Its a great event for all involved and if you have time to help out, and a strong back, please contact Wiff Farrell at

Flower Basket Planting 2018

Flower Basket Planting is Just Around the Corner

In the midst of winter, it’s time to start planning for spring! In March, we’ll be planting the flower baskets that hang throughout the neighborhood all summer long.  Can you help? We need lots of neighbors to help plant the baskets—which we plant in the warm cozy greenhouses of Indian Creek Nursery, 303 Saddle Creek Road.

We’ll be planting this year on Friday March 23 and Saturday March 24.  Planting times are 10-3 each day, and a lunch for volunteers is provided. No gardening experience required! This is a great way to make new friends, catch up with old friends, and beautify the neighborhood.

To volunteer for one or both days, sign up online at HERE, or e-mail Mary Green at, or leave a message at 402-556-1830.  You can also sign up at the monthly DMPA meetings.

Also, we’re looking for someone to help with coordinating the planting project this year, with the idea of taking over the organizing for 2019.  This is a fun project to organize!  If you can help, contact Mary at the phone or e-mail above.

Thanks for helping,

Mary Green, Flower Basket Chair

Boyscout Troop 42 Celebrates 100th Birthday

Boy Scout Troop 42 will celebrate its 100 th birthday the weekend of July 7, and

we’re inviting past members and adult leaders as well as the Dundee community

to mark the occasion with us.

The troop will kick off the weekend with a reception and Eagle Scout reunion

Friday, July 7 at Dundee Bank, 5015 Underwood Ave., to unveil the updated

Eagle plaque listing all of the troop’s Eagle Scouts. The names of all recent

Eagle Scouts have been added to the plaque, which is graciously hosted by the

bank. Previous Troop 42 Eagle Scouts also are invited to attend the 7 p.m.

On July 8, the troop will hold a Centennial Block Party outside Dundee

Presbyterian Church, its longtime sponsor and supporter. The block party will

include a summer Court of Honor, preparation of a time capsule, skits and a

presentation of Troop 42’s 100 years of history as well as a few other surprises.

The troop also is raising funds to repair and wrap the troop trailer with a new

banner to commemorate its 100 years. Donations can be sent to Dundee

Presbyterian Church, 5312 Underwood Ave., attention Marc Anderson, Scout

Most importantly, Troop 42 wishes to thank the Dundee community for

supporting scouting in Dundee for 100 years. From leaving food on your porches

for Scouting for Food and purchasing popcorn and holiday greens to visiting our

booth at the Dundee Day Parade, we appreciate it all. The troop, in turn,

continues to do its best to serve the community through service projects including

planting trees, cleaning up Memorial Park after the annual Bank of the West

Celebrates America concert and hauling ballot boxes at the Douglas County

Election Commission.

Troop 42 is proud to have enjoyed 100 years of scouting in Dundee.
